Bicentennial Park - Provo, Utah

Off Highway 89, in the last place you would think a park would be, is Bicentennial Park. Greatly due to the fact that there is run down industry all around the park, it often gets passed without a second glance. I personally think it’s a great park as I have been there many times.

The park is located at 1400 South 1600 East, just off Highway 89 in Provo.Map

The park has an array of amenities including a disc golf course, playground, duck pond with bridge, pavilion, charcoal grill, wetlands with boardwalk, polls for sand volleyball, and horseshoe pits. There is also ample parking.

My husband and I enjoy playing disc golf there, but I will tell you, we have lost a disc or two. Don’t get me wrong though, it is a great course with long, challenging holes. One time we spent a good half hour looking for my husband’s lucky disc in the dense tree line, right at dusk. We finally found it along with two other discs people had lost.

The playground is new and the kids love playing on it, including the big kids, and you know who you are.

There is a nice bridge over a pond. A few ducks were there today, next time I will come prepared with some bread to feed them.

You are able to rent the pavilion for $30.00; I never have because it has always been available. The charcoal grill has been great in the past but today it was filled with garbage.

The wetland section of the park is very educational. There is a boardwalk that twists and turns its way through the marsh. There are informational plaques along the way. Today we took our 3 month old son for a ride in his stroller around the boardwalk. It was very enjoyable; we had to off road it through the grass to get to where the boardwalk starts, but it was well worth it. Right now everything looks dead on account of the winter season, but in the late spring/summer its nice and green.

The only real negative that comes to mind is the bathrooms. They were closed for the season, but from memory I wouldn’t have used them anyway. Go potty before you go. They always seem to be real dirty.

Overall it is a wonderful park that I will be frequenting this summer.
