Utah isn’t generally known for it’s coffee houses, but every once in a while you come across one that makes you just want to kick back and relax. Madbrook Donut Company in Clearfield is one of those places.

While Madbrook isn’t technically a coffee shop (I had to talk them through how to make an iced coffee, although they make great lattes and iced fraps), it has a relaxed coffee house vibe. There are black leather couches, nice décor, bar-height tables and stools, free wi-fi, and three big plasma TVs strategically placed so you can see one from just about every seat in the house.

But the best view is of the Wasatch Mountains, if you sit facing east. I sipped my coffee and settled deep into the comfy couches to hang out with my husband for some rare alone time. I definitely recommend Madbrook for a relaxed, casual date. You can sit and talk (and if you run out of things to say you can sneak a peak at one of the televisions and grab a topic from the sports or headlines). They open at 6 a.m. so you could even meet there for a breakfast date before work.

Madbrook is relatively quiet and a great place to just sit and get away from it all for a little while. Really clean, too. It’s in a kind of random location, with not much else nearby, just off Antelope in Clearfield (which generally isn’t known for it’s restaurants or retail businesses, but I’m so glad it’s here). The food and drinks are delish and the prices are very reasonable: two combo lunches, an iced coffee, and a big donut only set us back about $15. My little one loves their signature triangle-shaped raised donuts. It’s almost impossible to pass up one of these tempting treats, and they’re big enough to share.

Madbrook also has a convenient drive-up/walk-up window. It’s the place to go for donuts, gourmet coffee, and sandwiches if you just happen to be in the neighborhood.
