Big Springs Park-Provo Canyon

My husband wanted to go on a date this weekend. We love walking in the mountains, so he planned for us to go up into the canyon and walk the trails at Vivian Park. He also knows that I love taking pictures, but that I haven’t done it in a long time because the batteries were dead in our camera and we were too lazy to replace them. So he replaced the batteries for me, and we went up there with the express purpose of taking pictures of nature. We actually kept going past Vivian Park up to Big Springs National Park, which is just about ten minutes farther up the road.
We started off dipping our toes in the river, and then Mike decided to walk out on a log across the middle. He was fine until he started coming back, and then he lost both his flip flops in the fast current. Luckily we got them back, but not without some clever maneuvering from the riverbank on my part.
Then we walked up the trail, which was gorgeous. We were sharing it with lots of bikers, other hikers, and even some horse riders, and there was a very friendly attitude, everyone smiling and saying hello as we passed each other. It made the walk up the trail very pleasant.
The hike wasn’t difficult, but it was dusty! We went at about 4:00 and the weather was very nice, so we were fine leaving our water in the car and drinking when we got back. Lots of families were there with their kids, so apparently it’s a good one for all ages.
We got some amazing pictures as well, some of which will definitely be going in the scrapbooks. One note about taking pictures–be careful where you take them, because Mike ended up in the middle of an anthill after I took a picture of him sitting on a bridge. I would absolutely recommend this hike for anyone, but make sure you go before it gets cold and they close off the parks.

Gorgeous pictures and very well written. I have been putting off going but now that it’s fall, I have go see this beautiful place.

Good description, with just a few slight errors.
First off, it’s not Big Springs National Park. Just park. Second, it’s not closed in the winter. It’s a very popular trail from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. So it’s beautiful in the summer, as you’ve described very well, but also a wonderful place to go in the winter, too.
