Provo Farmers Market

Fall Festivity! Alive with friendly faces, decorated tables, and a variety of home perfected flavors and goods, Provo’s Farmers Market is an excellent place to enjoy a relaxing, but exciting, crisp Saturday morning. Held every Saturday from 8 to 2 pm through the end of October, the market is abundant with variety! After my roommate returned the week before with a scrumptious box of fresh peaches, I decided to visit the following Saturday. The brilliant morning light enhanced the community-rich atmosphere as we explored the long line of vendors situated on the south side of the park. We discovered vegetables of all different sizes and types, more boxes of soft, juicy peaches and other fruits, jewelry, herbs, African pottery and paintings, traditional dishes like Navajo tacos and mango rice, several kinds of artisan breads, a diversity of meats (including free samples of steak!), unbelievably savory strawberry lemonade, and a few American treats like cotton candy and candied nuts. Apples To Apples! Maestro’s Gelatto also made an appearance with their out of place freezer. We passed fresh cut flowers, intricate handbags, and a few political representatives; spoke with honey and jam experts, listened to live music as we learned about the benefits of essential oils, and ended up wishing there was more to explore. My roommate even sat down for a free massage while I lingered over the various displays of silver rings and alpaca dolls. Umbrella Vendor!
The best rule of thumb, however, is to go through the market once all the way through and only buy on your second round. Vendors will try to get you to purchase everything right on the spot by emphasizing their “limited” stock, but take your time. You certainly don’t want to be carrying a box of fruit as you continue to look around as it is burdensome and will tire you out. You also might realize a better deal three booths down anyways. When it comes to the trinket aspect of the Farmers Markets, buy only what “jumps out” or strikes you as amazing. I purchased an orange and amber bracelet and a few coconut rings that really caught my eye and I simply love wearing them!Vegetables!
The Provo Farmers Market is located on 500 W 100 S with free parking located behind the Covey Center for the Arts. There are usually signs and tall orange cones directing traffic so it’s safer for pedestrians. I would advise going in the morning in order to get the best choices. The Market!
