Annual Holiday Tasting at Sam’s Club

Last week my friend Tracy showed me the Sam’s Club catalog, and asked me if I’d like to attend the annual Holiday Tasting with her one day this weekend. Of course I was all for it. Each year I host a Christmas Eve gathering, and not being one to cook I love to serve delicious pre-made appetizers, entrees, and desserts. So we thought this would be a good way to start the menu planning.

The Salomon Center in Ogden

Saturday night I discovered The Salomon Center in Ogden. It’s a shopping center—parts of which are still under construction—at 2261 Kiesel Ave., and it has some really fun and unique things to do. I’m sure you’ve seen indoor rock climbing before, but what about indoor surfing and skydiving? I hadn’t either.

Jenson Nature Park and Fishing Pond–Syracuse, UT

With temperatures hovering in the mid-fifties today and a gorgeous blue sky beckoning us, we decided to head over to Jensen Nature Park in Syracuse. The 20-acre park has nature trails perfect for walking or bike riding, and a 7-acre fishing pond. It’s a really nice place to go if you just want to [...]

Girl’s Day/Night Out at Thaifoon, The Gateway–Salt Lake City

My favorite restaurant in Utah is Thaifoon at the Gateway in Salt Lake City. The food is always delish, the atmosphere manages to be relaxing, elegant, and hip all at the same time, and I knew without a doubt that the ambience and menu would impress any New Yorker.

Ensign Peak Trail and Overlook–Salt Lake City

Ensign Peak is a short (about .5 mile each way) but steep (400-foot incline) that leads to sweeping panoramic vistas of Salt Lake City and the valley. The hike to historic Ensign Peak was made famous on July 26, 1847, just two days after the Mormon pioneers arrived in Salt Lake City, when Brigham Young and his exploring party climbed it to survey the Salt Lake valley.
