Treehouse Children’s Museum–Ogden, UT

The Salomon Center in Ogden

Saturday night I discovered The Salomon Center in Ogden. It’s a shopping center—parts of which are still under construction—at 2261 Kiesel Ave., and it has some really fun and unique things to do. I’m sure you’ve seen indoor rock climbing before, but what about indoor surfing and skydiving? I hadn’t either.

Girl’s Day/Night Out at Thaifoon, The Gateway–Salt Lake City

My favorite restaurant in Utah is Thaifoon at the Gateway in Salt Lake City. The food is always delish, the atmosphere manages to be relaxing, elegant, and hip all at the same time, and I knew without a doubt that the ambience and menu would impress any New Yorker.

Ensign Peak Trail and Overlook–Salt Lake City

Ensign Peak is a short (about .5 mile each way) but steep (400-foot incline) that leads to sweeping panoramic vistas of Salt Lake City and the valley. The hike to historic Ensign Peak was made famous on July 26, 1847, just two days after the Mormon pioneers arrived in Salt Lake City, when Brigham Young and his exploring party climbed it to survey the Salt Lake valley.

Sunset from Antelope Island

I’d never been to Antelope Island in the fall before, and I must say it was the ideal time of year to go. If you’ve ever been there in warmer months you know how annoying the brine flies can be, to the point where you can’t even open your windows or get out of your car. Not the case in October. It was simply spectacular.

Free Movies on BYU Campus–Provo

If you’re ever interested in going to a free movie, BYU campus is the place to look–especially if you like foreign movies, or ones that make you think. My old roommate Megan and I went to International Cinema last week and saw The Orphanage (or El Orfanato, which is its original name in Spanish). I [...]

Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum–Provo

The main display (which I am told is changed periodically) featured incredible lions, wolves, and cougars in action!

Orem’s Own HAUNTED HOUSE!

A dark house sits on an Orem street. It is not like many houses you are sure to meet. No light shines from the windows. There is no answer at the door–and in the yard some very scary monsters are waiting for some gore!

The Witches Are Out at Gardner Village

It’s a bewitching time to visit Gardner Village! Every October the witches come out to play as pumpkins, corn stalks, and harvest decorations transform this charming little shopping village with the Halloween spirit. The shops and eateries are crammed with tourists, but the crowds don’t diminish the quaintness…instead you’ll wonder why you’ve waited so [...]

Black Island Farms Harvest Festival and Corn Maze — Syracuse, UT

Black Island is a working farm which harvests carrots, cabbage, corn, onions, squash, gourds, and of course pumpkins…plus loads of fall fun. During the harvest festival you can pick your own pumpkins, take a rumbling hayride, or find your way through a haunted maze.
